Scripture Study and Spiritual Growth

• Has a basic understanding of prayer behavior: is quiet, folds arms, closes eyes, kneels at bedtime prayer.
• Expects prayer at mealtime and bedtime.
• Is present for daily scripture reading.
• Participates in weekly Family Home Evening.
• Enjoys nursery.
• Listens to gospel songs.
• Has been introduced to several scripture stories.

Language Arts

• Says a few letters of the alphabet (indiscriminately).

Arithmetic

• Says some of the numbers 1-10 (indiscriminately).

Science/Social Studies/Health

• Recognizes a variety of animals and the sounds they make.
• Identifies outside objects, ie moon, star, plane, tree, flower, etc.
• Identifies articles of clothing.
• Identifies family members.
  
• Identifies many common foods.
• Identifies common household items: table, chair, spoon, etc.

Basic Readiness

• Says the basic colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black (indiscriminately).
• Says names of shapes: circle, square, triangle (indiscriminately).
• Sits quietly for a short period of time, ie when listening to a story.
• Follows simple directions, ie “Put this in the trash.” or “Close the door.”

Arts and Crafts

• Has tried a variety of art mediums, colors, and textures.

Music

• Listens to a variety of music.
• Listens to children’s songs.
• Dances with music.

Physical Education

• Enjoys running, jumping, climbing, being chased, swinging, etc.
• Uses a ball with hands, feet, bat, club, racquet.

Manners and Helping

• With help, puts away toys at the end of bathtime, end of day, and when leaving friends.
• Repeats please, thank you, excuse me.
• Gets things when asked.
• Puts things in trash when asked.

Personal Care

• Helps with dressing and undressing.
• Washes and dries hands with help before meals.
