This is the
closest recipe that I have found to Magelby’s
Chocolate Cake!
1 cup butter (2
cubes) softened 2 ½ cup flour
3 eggs ½ cup plus 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder
1 cup granulated
sugar 1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup packed
brown sugar ¾ tsp. baking powder
2 tsp.
vanilla
½ tsp. salt
1 ½ cups buttermilk
Cream
together well butter, eggs, sugars and vanilla.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Add flour
mixture and buttermilk alternately to creamed mixture. Pour into a 9 x 13 pan or 2 round pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes
until toothpick comes out clean. Cool
and frost with recipe below.
Note: to make sour milk just add 1 ½ Tbsp white
vinegar to 1 ½ cup milk to sour it
1 cube butter,

3 1 oz. unsweetened squares of baking
chocolate (melted)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 dashes salt
1 Tbsp Cocoa
powder
3 to 4 cups
powdered sugar
Mix together
well and thin with milk or whipping cream
