FRUIT COBBLER         Margaret  Hein

            (My grandmother's recipe)

1 stick butter or margarine

1 c. flour

1 c. sugar

1 1/2 t. baking powder

1/2 t. salt

1 c. milk

2 c. any kind of fruit (peaches, apples, berries, rhubarb,

or a combination of several fruits.  (Fruit may be

      frozen, fresh, or canned.)

Melt butter in glass 8-inch square pan.

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Add milk and mix.   Pour mixture into pan

on top of melted butter.  Add fruit last of all,

on top of batter.  May sprinkle fruit with a

tiny bit of additional sugar.  Bake at 400 degrees

for about 30 minutes or until browned on top.

Delicious warm with ice cream or Cool Whip.
